Really beautiful paint and sounds pretty good. If only 40k for a hatch wasn’t insanity. Bugs me its more understated than the GTI though.

Dealer markup is BS but I think they are priced fairly for what they compete with (STi, Focus RS, etc)

I love the R, but I just feel like it doesn’t have the soul or character of the GTI. The interior is bland, has way too much piano black panels, and remove the R badges and it could easily be a Tiguan or Beetle. I don’t like that white in the tail lights either

I guess since its AWD it does fit in with those two. Just seems like size wise it would be closer to a FiST. Happy medium I guess.

I’ve driven one. it makes my GLI look slow in comparison. Damn-near rocketship fast!

but for the money? if you don’t need practicality that a hatch can offer, you could get a V8 pony car for about the same money

Ya kind of my thought, for 40k you could get something pretty sweet like a (Insert Tavarish here) or a (Insert Doug column here).

GLI is still one of the best lookin’ VW’s in a long time though.

...then I drove a GT Premium Performance pack mustang.
